Aylmerton At the General Court with leet held there on 15th day of April in the twelfth year of the reign of King William the Third, by the grace of God King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, AD 1700 (among other things enrolled)

To this court comes Peter Abbs, copyhold tenant of this manor, and in the full court surrenders into the hands of the lord of this manor various pieces of enclosed copyhold land, containing by estimate fourteen acres, be it more or less, lying in Aylmerton, next to the highway on the east side of the said enclosures, called Benington Lane.
And also one acre of copyhold land of Hawtings Tenement, once of John Allen, lying in two pieces in Aylmerton aforesaid.
And also nine acres and a half of copyhold land in Aylmerton aforesaid, once of Robert Doughty, with appurtenances.
And also two parts of one rood lying in Aylmerton aforesaid, once of William Pickrells.
And also one toft or waste messuage at Westwood in Aylmerton aforesaid.
And also two acres of soiled land lying in the Croft of the same waste messuage, once of Alice Rudkin.
And also one messuage, once built in Westwood aforesaid.
And also six acres and half a rood of copyhold land lying in various pieces in Aylmerton aforesaid, once of Edward Benington, once of the said Alice Rudkin.
And also one acre and thirty feet of copyhold land lying in three pieces in Aylmerton aforesaid, lately of the aforesaid Edward, once of Adam Hillington.
And also five roods of copyhold land, lately of the said Edward Heyward, afterwards of Laurence Doughty, lying in two pieces in Aylmerton aforesaid.
And also one piece of copyhold land called Tath Croft containing six acres, once of the demesne of the manor, lying in Aylmerton aforesaid, lately in the copyhold tenure of Nicholas Harrison.
And also one acre and a half of copyhold land, lying in various pieces in Aylmerton aforesaid, lately of Richard Jennings.
And also one pightle containing two roods by estimation, lying in Aylmerton aroesaid, lately of Richard Jennings.
And also one messuage, three acres and one rood of copyhold land with appurtenances in Aylmerton aforesaid, lying in four pieces, of which the first piece with a pightle to the north end contains by estimation one acre and lies between land now or lately of John Powell on both east and west, and abutts on the common way leading to the north; the second piece contains by estimation one acre and lies westerly in the same furlong, between land now or lately of John Powle to the east and the said messuage to the west, and abutts on the aforesaid way to the north and land now or lately of Richard Booth to the south; the third piece with the aforesaid messuage built on it contains half an acre and lies between the last mentioned piece to the east and land now or lately of John Allen to the west ,and abutts on the highway to the north and on land now or lately of the said Richard Booth to the south; the fourth piece contains by estimation three roods and lies in another furlong at the south end of the last mentioned furlong, between land lately of the said John Allen to the east and land now or lately of the said Richard Booth to the west, and abutts on land now or lately of the said Richard to the south and on land now or lately of the said John Powle to the north.
And also one piece of copyhold land containing by estimation one rood and a half lying in Aylmerton aforesaid, between land late of John Boswell to the east and land of the said John held of the Manor of Gresham to the west, and abutting on land of various men to the south and on the common way to the north.
And also three roods of land lying in Aylmerton aforesaid, between land now or lately of Richard Powle to the east, and abutting on land now or lately of Richard Abbs to the south and on land lately of the said John Boswell to the north (excepting one pightle with a tenement built on it, containing one acre)
which premises Richard Abbs brother of the said Peter surrendered To the use of Richard Sunman and to which he was admitted at the court held here on the twenty seventh day of April AD 1672.
And also half a rood of land with a house built on it in Aylmerton aforesaid with appurtenances (except three roods of copyhold land lying in the field of Aylmerton in two furlongs, which the said Peter Abbs surrendered to the use of Lawrence Monyman, and he was admitted, at the court held here on the twenty third day of April AD 1683, which premises Peter Abbs took up to him and his heirs on the surrender of Richard Abbs at the court held here on 13th day of October AD 1681.
And also one pightle containing by estimation one rood and ten feet, lying between land lately of the said Peter Abbs to the east and west, and abbuting on the high way to the north. Also half a rood of land, being parcel of one acre land late Powle at the north end of the aforesaid acre between land of William Frost to the west and land now or lately of the said Peter Abbs to the east, and abbuting on land of Peter Abbs to the north and on the way called le beare way to the south with appurtenances which premises last recited the aforesaid Peter Abbs took up to him and his heirs on the surrender of Lawrence Monyman at the court last recited, as by our roll appears.
And all other lands, tenements and hereditaments the said Peter Abbs held of this manor by copy of the court roll with appurtenences
to the use of William Abbs of Aylmerton aforesaid yeoman, one of the sons of the late William Abbs deceased, and Susan his wife, for and during the term of their natural lives and the longer lived of them, and after the decease of them, the longer lived of them, to the heirs of the said William the son forever, but under this condition that if the aforesaid William Abbs son and Susan his wife, or any of the heirs, executors, administrators or assigns of the said William, should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Peter Abbs or his assigns the sum of twenty pounds of good and lawful money of England, without default, laxation or other annual debt, and every year during the life of the said Peter, at four feasts in the year viz the Feast of St Michael the Archangel, the Nativity of Christ, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin and St John the Baptist by equal portions, the first payment beginning at the Feast of St John the Baptist next following the date of the title of this court, at the porch of the church of Runton in the county of Norfolk, or within six days after each aforesaid feast, and it it should happen that the aoresaid annual rent of twenty pounds at any feast in which it should be paid is not paid, in part or whole, then it shall be allowed for the aforesaid Peter and his assigns to enter into the said tenements, lands and other premises and to distrain, take in distraint, carry away, remove and retain what is found or seized, and receive the profits of all the lands and tenements, to the use of the aforesaid Peter Abbs, and also the aforesaid annual rent or annuity, with arrears if such there should be, for his full satisfaction and payment of all his losses and costs.
And lastly on condition that the aforesaid William Abbs the son should pay or cause to be paid to John Abbs, brother of the said William Abbs, his executors, administrators or assigns, the sum of twenty pounds of good and lawful money of England within one year next after the death of the said Peter Abbs,and the sum of twenty pounds of similar lawful money of England to Anne wife of Phillip Pike of Matles in the county of Norfolk, her executors, adminsitrators or assigns,within two years after the death of the said Peter Abbs, at the porch of the church of Runton aforesaid, that if it happens that the aforesaid sums of twenty pounds, to be paid to the aforesaid John and the twenty pounds to be paid to the aforesaid Anne, should be in arrears when they should be paid and are not paid, then it shall be lawful for the aforesaid John and Anne, and either of them, to enter into the said lands and premises, and receive the profits of all the lands and tenements and other premises, to the use of the said John and Anne, until the aforesaid several sums of twenty pounds of the aforesaid John and Anne are satisfied and paid, with all losses and costs, so that then the surrender will be in full force.
Now to this court come the aforesaid William Abbs, in person, and the aforesaid Susan, by the aforesaid William her husband as her attorney in this matter, and seek the favour of the lord of the said manor to be admitted to the aforesaid premises, and they are admitted as tenants, to whom seisin is delivered by the virge.
To hold the aforesaid premises, with appurtenances, to the aforesaid William and Susan, and during the term of their natural lives and the longer lived of them, and after their deaths and the longer lived of them to the heirs of the said William forever, under the aforesaid condition, at the will of the lord according to the custom of this manor, for rent and service &c saving the right &c and he gives the lord for a fine &c and makes fealty &c.
