Many years later, Frances recalled the following about her wedding day:
My wedding was very nice. It was December 26, 1932, and it was bright sunshine and I wasn't cold at all. It was a nice beautiful sunny day. I had a white satin dress, with a small cape at the back, cowl neckline and full skirt. I had a long veil and all I had was a circlit of real orange blossom to keep my veil in place. I had a bouquet of cream tea roses and my bridesmaid had a light blue taffeta dress, a large brim picture hat, blue shoes long white gloves and a bouquet of pink tulips. I never had any photos of my wedding and I'm sorry I didn't. Jim had a navy blue suit with a navy blue tie and patent leather shoes. The wedding was at Christ Church in Jarrow; the oldest church in the town, and Episcopal. I was christened there along with my brother, and my parents were married there. It's still there to this day. My son Neil was christened there years later. After the wedding we had a reception at the Cooperative Hall and the usual stuff, chicken, beef, salad, and pastries.7
